About Aircraft Cable
This type of cable is made of special strength wires primarily for aircraft controls and miscellaneous uses
in the aircraft industry. Commercial grade aircraft cable cannot be used for aircraft controls. However,
it is used in many general-purpose applications such as slings, winch line, non-aircraft control cables and more.
Aircraft cables are available in smaller diameters than wire rope. For example, aircraft cables are
available in 3/64 in(1.2mm) diameter while most wire ropes begin at a 1/4 in(6mm) diameter.
Galvanized aircraft cable is galvanized drawn. In mild environments it’s an economical alternative to
stainless steel.
Stainless Steel aircraft cable is made up of corrosion resistant steel wires and is therefore the highest
quality aircraft cable available. While it tests at approximately the same pulling strength as galvanized
aircraft cable, it lasts longer under harsh conditions such as salt water and acidic (caustic) envrionments.
Type 316 has a higher corrosion resistance ranking than type 302/304, while type 302/304 has a higher
strength and fatigue resistance ranking. As the carbon content of the stainless steel alloy increases,
strength and fatigue resistance also increase, but corrosion resistance is reduced.

7. Remarks during use and handling:
